Equality impact assessments

An equality impact assessment (EqIA) is a tool for identifying the potential impact of policies, services and functions on residents and staff from an equalities perspective. EqIAs give us the opportunity to think carefully about the impact of our work on residents and staff and include an improvement plan showing the work needed to help us promote equality as an employer and service provider

All policies, services and functions that are relevant to our equality duties are assessed on a three year rolling programme and all new polices, functions and changes to service provisions have an EqIA to make sure that equality considerations are taken into account.
