Internal works

Kitchen

Clean out your cupboards. Your old units will be removed and while the contractor is fitting your new kitchen you may need to have your pots, pans and essentials stored out of the way or in temporary boxes. Think about what you need to use and make sure that you can get to it easily during the work.

While renewing your kitchen we may take the opportunity to upgrade your electrics. There may be times when cables are tied back ready to be installed, but in these cases the wires will not be live (not connected to the electric).

We may renew the floor to your kitchen. Sometimes we may need to lay a new liquid compound called a ‘levelling screed’. If we do, please be careful not to walk on this, or let pets run across it until it is dry.

Most importantly with work to a kitchen there may be times when you will not have full facilities returned overnight. We will try to leave you with a water supply and sink, however this may be in a temporary location. We may not be able to keep cooking facilities in use throughout the time that work is in progress. To help prepare for this discuss your needs with the RLO, but be prepared not to be able to use your cooker at times.

As with cookers we may not be able to keep washing machines or dish washers plumbed in while work is in progress. However, electric power will be maintained for your refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and similar appliances, but not necessarily in the kitchen.

Bathroom

The main thing to consider with work to your bathroom or toilet, is that you will be without these facilities for a short period of time while the units are changed, and water supplies reconnected.

Like with kitchens a new floor may be laid with a wet levelling screed.
