Decent homes
Internal works (continued)
Heating
We want to improve energy efficiency to your home and therefore will be upgrading our various forms of heating. We will try to make this as least disruptive as possible, by combining this work with kitchen work, or by using existing boiler locations.
We may be providing your home with new radiators. We will consult with you about where we will place radiators to provide the best performance and efficiency of your new heating system. It may not be practical to put radiators or boilers where you want them, but our engineers and your RLO will be happy to advise you why.
We will try to hide pipework as much as possible but there will be some situations where we can’t.
If bulky items of furniture need to be moved we can do this, again ask your RLO for help. If carpets need to be lifted we will lay them again, although please be aware that you may need to refit or stretch the carpet later on. Unfortunately, if you have fitted parquet or laminate timber panelled flooring we will not put this back. We will not be able to accept responsibility for any damage caused in lifting this type of floor or if you put it back. To avoid this we may use surface pipe work.
As part of the heating upgrade we will also consider improving the insulation to your water cylinder, water tanks or loft space.
Rewire
Wherever possible, we will try to use existing conduit runs (where the wiring goes in the wall now), or pull through cables as part of rewiring your home. Sometimes, it will not be possible to do this and we may have to provide new cables in surface mounted mini-trunking, or offer you the opportunity to have cables hidden inside the walls in new channels. If we do put cables inside your walls in new channels, we will replace the plasterwork over the channel but will not redecorate.
If we can, we will run new cables within floors or above ceilings. However, where we can’t do this we will again need to consider running cables in mini-trunking.
As with heating systems, we can help with moving furniture and carpets, the policy about parquet or laminate flooring will also apply.
