What to do if you cannot pay your rent

If you think you might have difficulty paying your rent, contact the income collection team on freephone 0800 40 80 160 as soon as possible. If you are a sheltered housing tenant, please contact one of the Sheltered Housing Estate Managers on freephone 0800 40 80 160. The sooner we know about it, the more likely we can help.

We may refer you to a Welfare Benefit Advisor or another advisor. They can help you find out about benefits you may be entitled to and how to make the most of your money. If you are already in arrears, you need to pay back the money you owe as quickly as possible. Ideally this would be one payment for the whole amount, but we know that this isn’t always possible.

We will agree a realistic repayment plan with you, to help you clear the arrears. The agreement will be at an affordable level to enable you to repay your debt as quickly as possible. Click the link below for more information about how you can get help with paying your rent.
