Rent and service charges
Rent
What your rent covers
Rent is the money you pay to Enfield Council for your home and other services you receive. Paying your rent on time and in full is part of your agreement with Enfield Council. Paying your rent also means that Enfield Homes can:
- manage and repair homes
- keep estates clean and tidy
- ensure your home is kept safe
- make minor estate improvements
- provide an out-of-hours emergency service.
The rent you pay includes:
- the money you pay for using your home (this is called the ‘net rent’ and includes service charges for services such as caretaking)
- water and sewerage charges that we collect for the water authority (only for people living in the borough of Enfield)
- heating charges (if you live in a block with communal heating)
- community alarm charges (if applicable).
